Sensation,
Perception And Neuroscience (SPAN) is the hub for research in sensory
science at The University of Sydney.
SPAN
is composed of faculty and researchers within the School of Medical
Sciences (Anatomy & Histology, Bosch Institute,
Biomedical Sciences, Physiology)
and the School of
Psychology. Their research is in Audition, Touch and
Proprioception, and Vision. The work is supported by funding from many
sources, including the Australian Research Council and the National
Health and Medical Research Council.
The techniques used by the researchers include human and animal behavior, cell biology, neurophysiology, neuroanatomy, brain imaging, and computation. The work benefits from interactions within and between the groups, exploiting experience with different techniques to find novel ways of exploring the workings of the brain.
