During 1996, two aspects of ion transport were investigated in mouse early embryos: (i) potential blockers for the 240 pS K+ channel in early mouse embryos; (ii) control of pH in early mouse embryos. In 1996 changes in the activities of the H+-lactate transport system and the Na+-H+ exchanger during pre-implantation development up to the blastocyts stage were characterized.
