Lachlan McDowall has been conducting research in the
Cardiovascular Neuroscience Laboratory in the Discipline of Physiology, Bosch
Institute, University of Sydney, since 2003.
He graduated from The
University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Science (Hons I) in 2003 with a major
in physiology and minor in psychology. Subsequently, Lachlan completed a PhD in
the Cardiovascular Neuroscience Laboratory (2004-2007) focussing on the role of
the dorsomedial hypothalamus in cardiovascular and respiratory regulation, from
which he has published 3 papers in the American Journal of Physiology.
Lachlan is continuing his research
in 2008 as a postdoctoral researcher in the Cardiovascular Neuroscience
Laboratory and is concurrently studying Medicine at the University of Sydney
and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
He has a specific interest in
investigating psychological stress and the role of the hypothalamus in
mediating the cardiovascular and respiratory responses during such stress.
